Help! I washed a red sock with my whites

Have you ever felt that moment of dread when you find a red sock in the washer, mixed in with your whites? Of course the whites are now pink, and you vow to never buy anything red again. Well, I had a moment like that this week, but thankfully it wasn’t as devastating. Here’s what happened…

My walk with the Lord has been improving, so much so that He speaks to my spirit, and I do what He says. He’s been telling my wife and me that He will provide everything we need for our church and ministry. So I’ve received that word and expected miracles every day. He can do exceedingly abundantly more that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Then I found a red sock in my thinking and it (temporarily) ruined my day. He told us to do something (the “what” isn’t important), but I added to the request and did something slightly different than He said. Of course I didn’t realize what I did, thinking to myself that we could be more efficient, timely, bundled than what He said. I had mixed my red sock with His white & holy instruction.

Praise the Lord, my wife asked me afterwards to repeat what the Lord said. And that’s when I realized I had missed it. We are supposed to rely on Him for everything:

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

“All your needs” means ALL your needs. Don’t try and out-do or out-think what the Lord says. Trust Him and obey. He tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9, “So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Let’s all try harder to listen for the Lord’s voice and do EXACTLY what He (and how) He says!

God is love. So above all else, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run (1 Corinthians 13:13 TPT). Jesus is Lord.
